Walking With Children Core Values:

Our goals are the elaboration, the acceptance, and the complete protection of these values. Our commitment to these values can be observed in the form that we teach, we respond and we behave with others

CONFIDENTIALITY Is the form of keeping personal information private and not sharing it with another without permission.

HONESTY Is the form of acting transparent, upright and clear with our counterparts, reflecting our decision to always do what is right.

HUMAN RIGHTS Are those necessary conditions that all people, without discrimination, receive protection and help for their physical, mental, social, moral and spiritual well being.

JUSTICE Is the honorable act of knowing, respecting and giving to everyone what they deserve and need in order to develop fully and to live with dignity.

DIVERSITY Is the form of being open to different opinions in order to discover new ideas, methods and perspectives. Including recognizing and being sensitive to the differences in race, gender, ethnic origin, nationality, culture, sexual orientation, religion and/or abilities.

PUNCTUALITY Is the quality of arriving in the moment indicated, saying what is necessary, beginning promptly and being prudent with our time and the time of others.

ETHICS Is the form of being responsible for acting in accordance with our internal rules and conscience.

RESPECT Is the form of treating others with the same consideration that we would like to be treated.

FAITH Is the belief that God directs our paths both personally and professionals and that everything happens for our good.

RESPONSIBILITY Is the conscience awareness and acceptance of the consequences for what we do to ourselves and to others.

 

Foundation Objectives:

  • Improve the conditions of life of children and adolescents living with HIV/AIDS by providing access to efficient, effective and opportune health services through our care and attention that are of acceptable quality to the Honduran people.
  • Provide appropriate nutritional assistance that is of the quality needed to meet the requirements of children and adolescents living with HIV.
  • Ensure and fortify the educational formation of the children attended to in our foundation, by maintaining effective coordination, assistance and communication with the educational institutions in charge of the education of these children.
  • Provide opportune medical care, including antiretroviral therapy, through effective coordination with different levels of governmental and non-governmental organizations, clinics and hospitals, along with national and international medical brigades.
  • Offer children and adolescents a place where they can live and die with dignity fortified spiritually in the love of God.
  • Ensure a healthy family-style environment that also includes appropriate care for the hygienic needs of these children and adolescents in order to enhance their physical and mental health.
  • Develop a re-entry plan for each child that assists them, when they are mature enough, in returning to society as healthy productive citizens.
  • Establish coordinative mechanisms with public and private institutions and national and international organizations to seek financial support for the long-term sustainability of the foundation.
  • Create opportunities of employment for quality persons who are sensitive to this cause insuring that the technical and professional attention we provide is of a high-quality standard for those we serve.
  • Develop extension programs that provide education to individuals, communities and other institutions in response to the need for prevention of HIV/AIDS with topics like general health, HIV/AIDS care and prevention, etc.
  • Offer the children, employees, visitors, and volunteers of our foundation the opportunity for personal growth while developing solidarity with those living with HIV/AIDS and other health problems.
  • Establish a coordinative relationship with the Institute of Honduran Children and Family (IHNFA)

Who We Serve

In this first year, our goal is to care for up to 6 children living with HIV/AIDS. The physical capacity of our center is 20 children however we plan to start small and increase according to our financial capacity. In the 2nd year our goal is to care for up to 12 children. Our plan is to care for them until they are mature enough to return to society as productive members. We anticipate that time to be different for each child.
