Today in Honduras, the HIV/AIDS epidemic continues to be a growing threat to human life. Since the epidemic began, Honduras has been particularly hard-hit and the country continues to have the highest number of HIV/AIDS cases in Central America. Honduras accounts for over 60% of Central America’s HIV/AIDS cases but only 17% of the region’s population.
